Trekking at Paithalmala

Paithal mala is 9km away from here. It has a height of 4500 feet. We can see Palakkayam thattu, Coorge forest, Ehimala, Thalakkaveri, Kannur airport, and Sea from here. It is said that about 500 years ago the King of the Ezhimala mushika dynasty came here for "Vanaprastham" and his name was Vaithalkon. This place is also known by his name. The word meaning of "Paithal" in Malayalam is child. This mountain is known as Paithalmala because there are mountains bigger than this in the Karnataka forest

There are two trekking seasons at Paithalmala: monsoon and summer. Monsoon (June to October) trekking in Paithalmala, while beautiful, can be a challenge due to rain. You would also have to watch out for leeches and occasional elephant visits..
